San Marino - An indication of strong come back ?
My prediction before this race was - "The San Marino grand prix, the first of the European leg, will determine whether Ferrari and Schumi be able to fight back and live up to competition for the remainder of the season"
Well, the race was a stunner till the chequered flag. None of the 30,000 odd Tifosi gathered to watch the race at Imola would have thought that Schumi and Ferrari even stood a a remote chance of a podium finish....owing to the disastrous 2nd qualifier which had moved Schumi to the 13th place on the starting grid.
The new and reliable Ferrari looks awesomely fast. Schumi looked in control throughout the race while he kept lapping a second and half faster than every other driver...including the top runners like Alonso, and Button. Eventually finishing second just about .2 seconds away from the reigning championship leader Alonso. I strongly feel, Alonso is the next Schumi - technically he is just too good. Any other driver would probably have made a mistake if there was such pressure put for 7 successive laps. We saw Kimi loose it all like that last year in the last lap (dont recollect which circuit)....Button did a big mistake that costed him the second place in this race.
While one Ferrari performs, the other missed it badly. Early retirement of Rubens is not a good sign for the new car and its reliability. Similar is the case with other top running teams like Renault and Mc Laren.
Kimi's bad luck continues....his retirement i guess was also a great turning point to the race.
I am hoping the races are even more competitive and Ferrari and Schumi stamp their authority as they did in the earlier seasons.

Imola - Before the race!
End of 4 free practice sessions, things look positive for Ferrari, though Alonso and button have set the pace.
Wait and watch whats coming up in a few hours at the qualifiers and the race ahead.

Ferrari - Loosing it all ???
Am kinda made to eat my own words.....from the time of my last post and now. There seemed to be no looking back for Schumi and Ferrari in the last season. If Ferrari and Schumi thought they could ride that wave, well its time they come out of the wrong illusion. The competitors reacted late...but there sure were signs of strong competition showing up as the season came to an end last year.
The only thing that remains unchanged from last season to now is the hard work and competitive spirit that every other formula 1 team is put to drive Ferrari out of the pole position. Renault (especially Alonso, who is considered next best driver to Schumi in driving skills) is given a run for Ferrari's money.
Bridgestone tryes don’t seem to be performing....well, Ferrari is still holding on to them, because the better the competition, the better the tyres and better for you (Bridgestones advertisement goes like that)....hmmn, it certainly hasn't gone Ferrari's way in any of the 4 Races so far. They may have to reassess their choice of the tyre vendor, when none of the competitive cars are using them.
Hopefully, the Scarlet Team will find a much reliable car for the European tracks. The desperate move to get the premature 2005 version of the car for the Bahrain Grand Prix did have some bright spots...but lasted much less than the flashes in the fire pan.
Now, I am looking forward to a competitive car and better performances from Ferrari...so that the Tifosi has something to cheer up.
Long live the competition - The road to success is "Always under Construction".
